Tastemakers 2016: Marvin's Restaurant

Not even a massive downpour could keep hungry customers away from this restaurant. Marvin's in Novato offers table seating or seating at the large counter where you can watch owner Chuck and staff work the griddle. Better go hungry though, because the servings are generous.

Photo Notes:

Since it was pouring rain on the day I was scheduled to take photos at Marvin's in Novato, I assumed that it’d be slow and I’d have plenty of room to set up. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Not only was the place packed, there was a small group of patrons patiently waiting outside (in the rain) for an available table. Chuck and his staff accommodated me the best they could and set me up near the counter. My favorite photo from this shoot shows a bit of everything –– big plates of food, a hot cup of coffee and legs in the background. Every available seat was filled in the restaurant and the steady stream customers, delicious food being served and friendly conversation made for an unexpected energetic atmosphere in spite of the rain. To say this is a popular breakfast venue is an understatement.
