Big Poke Weekend in San Francisco

Calling all poke fans! Inspired by an upcoming article we are publishing on this delicious island-style trend, I noticed not one but two poke celebrations this weekend.

First of all PokeCon! A food truck extravaganza in San Francisco at SoMa StrEat Food Park – 428 11th Street July 23 and 24.

From the sponsors: San Francisco’s first annual I Love Poke festival & chef competition to make its debut at Pacific Catch 9th Avenue, July 24th from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate Hawaiian culture and cuisine. Special guest Pa’ina Café of Oahu, the originators of the “poke bowl,” are flying out from Hawaii in celebration of their 1 millionth poke bowl served. They will be making and sharing poke, and will also be the official judges of the mini poke bowl contest.

Ticket price is $85 and includes two cocktails/beverages, all you can eat mini poke bowls created by seven competing chefs (including Chef David Gingrass of Pacific Catch, The Myriad’s Poke Delish and Santa Cruz plate lunch favorite Pono Hawaiian Grill), as well as additional Hawaiian/Asian inspired food items including “The Minotaur” a Korean BBQ Kimchi Cheese Melt created by San Diego’s Supernatural Sandwiches.
