Sausalito Art Festival Poster Art

The official poster art for the 2014 Sausalito Art Festival will be unveiled at the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce Mixer this Thursday, August 14 at the Hanson Gallery, 699 Bridgeway, Sausalito. This is one of the best Chamber networking mixers all year –– not only is it a festive gathering of local businesses and the art community, but Hanson Gallery is a wonderful venue.

For over 30 years, Hanson Gallery has been showcasing emerging and established artists. You’ll find the occasional Chagall, Picasso ceramic and David Hockney, but newer artists as well from around the world. The art on their walls is a feast for the senses. Some of my favorites are Tim Cantor (surrealism that will send you), Alfredo Navarro (mesmerizing seascapes), Thomas Easley (amazing still life) and Eon Burchman (hummingbird magic). Judy Hanson who owns and operates the gallery with her artist husband Scott, always hosts this delightful reception and is such a integral and supportive part of the art community in Marin.

This year’s official poster artist is Kathleen Lipinski, a Marin County resident who has been painting California landscapes for over 30 years. An avid hiker, backpacker and runner, Lipinski paints oil on canvas from her photographs, often working in large formats. Her art combines a love of nature with her dedication to realism, attention to detail, and her ability to capture the quality of light.

Lipinski’s work has been exhibited at the Triton Museum of Art, The Morris Graves Museum of Art, and in other galleries from San Francisco to New York. She has been exhibiting at the Sausalito Art Festival since 1981. emerylipinski.com
