Sausalito Herring Celebration and Fundraiser

The end of January means that Superbowl is coming up, that the days are getting longer, that maybe we’re finally starting to write the proper year on stuff, and in Marin, that the local herring are spawning. Ring in the bounty this weekend at the 2018 SCBC Herring Celebration, which will be featuring a screening of the Emmy award-winning Sonic Sea. This beautiful and powerful film is about protecting life in our waters from the destructive effects of oceanic noise pollution. The event will also include a brief presentation on the SCBC at Cass Gidley Marina project, music from The Fishwives, and of course tasty herring dishes from some of your favorite local restaurants. As always, if the herrings bail on us (they like to keep us in suspense every year) the chefs will be serving equally delectable dishes, several with local seafood. Docent-guided tours of Tall Ship Matthew Turner will be available, as well as an educational whale exhibit from NOAA/Greater Farallones NMS. This event is a fundraiser for Phase I of renovating the SCBC site at Cass Gidley Marina, which is expected to begin this Winter.

You have a Choice of Two Screenings for Sonic Sea:
Ticket #A Morning: 11:00am Screening + 1:00pm Lunch (Doors Open 10:30am)
Ticket #B Afternoon: 1:00pm Lunch + 2:30pm Screening (Doors Open at 1:00pm)

Participating restaurants include: Fish, Osteria Divino, Chef DR Davey Jones, Angelino and Joinery. Wine will be on offer and Fort Point Brew Co will pour beer. Popcorn to go with your movie will be provided courtesy of Drivers Market. Catch a flick, enjoy dishes from local chefs, and hear some tunes – all while supporting development of the Sausalito Community Boating Center at Cass Gidley Marina.
