Mt. Tam Sunday HIke

I never truly appreciated the beauty of Marin County until I got into high school. Before then, I was constantly wanting to get out of the area to explore. However, as I got older I began to see how lucky I was to live in a place that offers so much to do outdoors and learned that everything I was looking for was in my backyard. There is no shortage of activities – ranging from mountain biking, hiking, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and much more. I have found that the nature serves as the perfect backdrop to get to know others, with no phones in hand and the friends of Mt. Tam is making it possible by bringing people together on the beloved Marin mountain.

This Sunday The Friends of Mt. Tam will lead a hike that ranges from 7 ½ to 9 miles. It is a great opportunity to get outside and find out more about the area. The hike leaders will discuss geology, ecology, and cultural history of the region and somehow, the elusive theme of “pirates cove” will be woven in. It will be fast paced and may have up to 2,200 feet in elevation gain. Be sure to pack water, food, and rain gear if needed. There is no sign up necessary – just show up on time, and have a great day seeing the beauty of Mt. Tam.
