Last June, the California State Senate joined the Assembly in approving a resolution to rename the rainbow-colored Waldo Tunnel after the late Robin Williams. A petition had gone around and gained enough signatures to implement the change, leaving eager Bay Area residents waiting to see the new signs for over half a year. Yesterday, the new Robin Williams Tunnel sign was put up on both the north and south ends of the tunnel.
With the signs in place, drivers are likely to picture Williams clad in his Mork & Mindy rainbow suspenders as they pass through the tunnel, entering or leaving the place he called home.
