MMWD: Herpetofauna Survey Scientist Training

Herpetofauna, not a word that evokes images of cool and cute things. But in fact herpetofauna are simply the reptiles and amphibians of a particular region, habitat, or geological period. And here in Marin there are plenty and a lot of them are adorable. I mean, look at this little newt! Ok, so even if you’re not sold on these guys’ awww-factor their well-being is a great indicator of the entire ecosystem’s health. So the Marin Municipal Water District is looking for volunteers who can become community scientists and monitor the changes in the Mt. Tamalpais herpetofauna community. There will be a required orientation this weekend that includes data collection techniques, a discussion on species identification and biology, and a walk around Pine Point. Volunteers will monitor our field survey starting in March. You must be 18 years or older to participate. Rain will not cancel. Pre-registration required as space is limited. Hope to see you there!

If You Go:

When: Saturday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: RSVP For Location
Fairfax, CA
Cost: Free
