Mother's Day Brunch

Mother's Day is the most popular holiday for dining out, make your reservation now!

Flowers, jewelry, chocolate, massage certificates… the classic Mother’s Day present bundle. But apparently none of those trump brunch. Sorry, those meandering lines and crowds around your favorite locales don’t lie, and on her day, what us children want the most for Mom is a ticket out of the kitchen, effectively making Mother’s Day the most popular holiday for dining out. To help you on your quest for the perfect place to consume with Mom (and to help keep your loving relationship intact) we’ve compiled a list of places around the county offering brunch and specials on Mother’s Day in Marin. Southern Marin


sammy hagar at el paseoEl Paseo (brunch 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Chef Todd Shoberg has created an innovative new brunch menu for Mother’s Day, including creative cocktails! If you’re lucky, you may see Sammy Hagar (pictured), El Paseo’s co-owner, dining there as well. Call ahead for reservations. 415.388-0741, elpaseomillvalley.com

Balboa Cafe (brunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Mother's Day brunch includes avocado toast, chilaquiles, corned beef hash and cronuts plus the famous Balboa burger and other items. 415.381.7321, balboacafe.com

Cavallo Point (10 a.m. – 12 p.m. [first seating], 12:30–2:30 p.m. [second seating])

Fill Mom's day with joy and treat her to a very special brunch for the whole family at Cavallo Point. Guests will delight in a delectable buffet in Callippe Ballroom, featuring a wide selection of delicious brunch dishes with live jazz music playing in the background. $120 / Adults, $55 / Kids ages 4 – 12. Copita (brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Celebrate your mom with a modern Mexican brunch or dinner at Copita Tequileria y Comida, located in sunny Sausalito. This Mother’s Day, Copita is offering moms a complimentary strawberry rosé sangria all day long. For brunch, pair the sangria with Chef Tellez’s Huevos Rancheros made with two fried eggs, fried corn tortillas, red ranchero salsa, pork beans, cilantro and tomatillo salsa, or Chilaquies Montados with mole, fried eggs, housemade tortilla chips, queso fresco, cilantro and onion. Fast Food Francais (brunch starts at 10 a.m.)

You may not be able to take Mom to Paris this Mother’s Day, but you can take her to this French eatery in Sausalito that features omelettes, duck confit hash, Croque Madames, French cheese fries and of course, French toast. Reservations recommended. eat3f.com

Le Garage Bistro (brunch 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Another French bistro favorite in Sausalito, their brunch menu includes crispy panisse, pain perdu (brioche French toast with creme fraiche), omelettes, quiche, duck confit, mussels and an an elaborate ham sandwich. Reservations recommended. 415.332.5625, legaragebistro.com

Mountain Home Inn (brunch 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

The Mountain Home Inn is serving a prix fixe 3-course Mother’s Day brunch, consisting of a starter, main course and dessert. Kids under 12 can order off the kids menu. Reservations recommended. 415.381.9000, mthomeinn.com

Piazza D’Angelo (brunch 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Ranging from Italian style egg dishes and frittatas to French toast and Belgian waffles, there Is something on the menu for everyone. Reservations recommended. 415.388.2000, piazzadangelo.com

Poggio (brunch served until 11 a.m.)

This Mother's Day, treat your mom to breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Poggio. A house specialty is Chef Balesteri's delectable Leige waffles (available until 10:00 am) – get them with maple syrup and fresh berries, or with lemon zest, powdered sugar and Nutella. Sweetwater Music Hall (brunch 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Looking for something a little different to do with your mom? Relax with free live music on the sun soaked patio at Sweetwater in Mill Valley and enjoy the full menu (no prix fixe or buffet here) ranging from huevos rancheros with black bean salsa and feta and an egg white scramble to cinnamon French toast with seasonal berries, ricotta pancakes and maple granola. The Trident (brunch 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Tiburon Tavern’s Executive Chef Tim Humphrey will be serving up a farm-to-table brunch menu featuring smoked salmon toast, orange lavender French toast, bacon and kale benedict and ricotta pancakes, plus salads and sandwiches. 415.435.5996, lodgeattiburon.com

Tiburon Tavern (brunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., dinner 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.)

Tiburon Tavern’s Executive Chef Tim Humphrey will be serving up an all-day farm-to-table limited brunch menu and a special prix fixe dinner menu featuring dishes inspired by his own mother, Valerie Humphrey. Made with love, the menu will include Humphrey family favorites such as a decadent lobster tortellini, marinated mozzarella salad and Valerie’s very special key lime pie. Central Marin


Insalata's (opens at 10 a.m.)

Treat Mom to a Mediterranean style brunch at this Marin standby from award winning chef Heidi Krahling. Brunch options include some of the favorites from the dinner menu (hummus, fattoush salad, grilled lamb tenderloin), plus egg dishes and housemade granola. 415.457.7700, insalatas.com

Left Bank Brasserie Larkspur (brunch 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Left Bank Brasserie’s seasonally inspired brunch menu includes Gaufre a la Fraise (waffles with strawberries and crème fraiche), a ham and Swiss omelette with egg whites, a Parisian style burger with two sunny side up eggs and a French tartine with herbed goat cheese and bacon. Marin Audubon Mother’s Day Picnic (Gates open at 11 a.m., lunch from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.)

Enjoy friends and family in a spectacular natural setting; lunch on Rosemary Grilled Chicken or Vegetarian Quiche, salad, beans, and desserts, (wine & beer available at a no host bar); take a guided walk or stroll on your own along two trails opened especially for this event. $28 adults, $12 children (under 12.) The Melting Pot (11:30 am. to 8:30 p.m.)

Peacock Gap Golf Club (brunch 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Mother's Day brunch buffet includes salads, and iced seafood station, carving station, omelette station, desserts, and more. Adults: $50; kids 12 and under $22. 10% discount for members. All moms receive a complimentary glass of champagne and a rosé. 415. 453-4940 ext. 7.

Northern Marin


Finnegan's Marin (brunch 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Offering its regular Sunday brunch fare, include eggs benedict and florentine, special scrambles, make-your-own omelets, homemade biscuits and gravy, and vanilla French toast. 415.899-1516, finnegansmarin.com

Hilltop 1892 (brunch begins at 10 a.m.)

Featuring an extensive brunch menu with a good selection of egg dishes, crepes, soups and sandwiches and more. 415.893.1892, hilltop1892.com

Rickey's (brunch 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Offerings include a carving station, eggs Florentine, apple crepes, pancakes and omelets made to order, and a complimentary glass of champagne. $46.95 for adults, $38.95 for seniors 65+, $24.95 for children 7–12, and free for kids 6 and under. The Club at McInnis Park (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
