If you're looking for a jam sesh to go to this weekend, then Music in Common's FODfest is the place to be. This is a free event at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley and takes place each October as part of Daniel Pearl World Music Days.
Music in Common is a non-profit organization that aims to strengthen and empower communities through music and was founded by Todd Mack in response to the death of his friend and band mate Daniel Pearl (the Wall St. Journal reporter killed in Pakistan after the 9/11 attacks). FODfest (Friends of Danny) has a unique format: part concert, part song swap and part jam session and features a vast array of musicians who, often, are meeting for the first time on stage.
