A Night at the Casa Azul

Are you considering dressing up like Frida Kahlo this Halloween? Well, considering that it’s become the artsy-irreverent-girl costume du juor, you won’t be alone on that one. But if you want to get a leg –– or eyebrow –– up on the competition, we recommend stopping by Art Works Downtown this Saturday as there will be inspiration aplenty. The center will transform into Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo’s famed residence and studio in Mexico City, Casa Azul, and it geared up to be a party you don’t want to miss.

The proceeds from the event will support Art Works Downtown’s arts programming and their 17 affordable housing units, so if you really want to contribute to that cause, there’s a limited amount of VIP tables available for $500 and $1,000. The fundraising party will be held in AWD's Susan Kirby Place patio and the lower level of the art center and will feature an art auction, raffle, gourmet appetizers and drinks, live music, dancing, and more! Additionally, Green Chile Kitchen will be on hand providing small bites and margaritas. Also, arrive donning your unique threads as creative attire is encouraged.

If You Go:

When: Saturday, September 26 from 7:30–10 p.m.

Where: 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael

Cost: $75
