Sausalito Floating Home Tour

The 31st annual Sausalito Floating Home Tour will be staged Saturday, September 24th, from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. It all starts at the Kappas Marina Green in the north end of town where patrons can check-in and walk to 10 different lovely homes afloat on Richardson Bay, four of which have not been featured on the tour before. In addition to the self-guided tour, there will be food and drink, live music and an art exhibit.

It’s a wonderful waterfront event and a real slice of life in Sausalito. While the floating home community is one of Sausalito’s top tourist destinations -- and one of the most photographed attractions -- seldom are the homes open to the public. The tour is an opportunity to experience the eclectic and enchanting lifestyle of living aboard a floating home. You just may be tempted! But whatever you do….don’t call them “houseboats”! (Even though everyone does!)

The event is sponsored by the non-profit Floating Homes Association that represents Sausalito’s 5 floating home marinas. Proceeds will benefit Sausalito Village, Friends of the Marin City Library and the Marine Mammal Center.

Tickets are $50 in advance; $60 at the door.

For tickets and/or more information: www.floatinghomes.org.

If you'd like to read more about these homes and their owners, check out this story we published in September 2015.
