5 Reasons to Visit Wine Country in August

In case you needed a reason to visit the North Bay besides the rolling hills, breathtaking views,  and sensational vineyards, we came up with 5 exciting things to do in Wine Country this month:

Dance the night away at Transcendence Theater Company’s production of Shall We Danceat the Jack London State Historic Park. Part of the Broadway Under the Stars summer series, this show features a variety of styles of music and dance including jazz, tap, swing, waltz, tango and more. You can either pack a homemade picnic basket or purchase food from local vendors at the event for the pre-show picnic on the beautiful winery ground starting at 5 and then enjoy a memorable night of music and dance under the stars. There are various ticket options including VIP, Premium, Select, and General Admission.

Head to Downtown Napa for the Reds, Whites, and Bluegrass Festival for a taste of all the wine, food, and music Wine Country has to offer. Presented by Lincoln Theater and Napa Valley Museum, the Americana Series celebrates American music and culture with a slew of folk and bluegrass performances throughout the summer and a variety of local vendors serving food and wine. Headlining the festival are 3 award-winning bluegrass bands from the Bay Area, purchase your tickets now!

Looking to get away from it all for a while? Explore Lake Berryessa and enjoy the 75 degree water and scenic views. There are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy during the day-on and off the water-From cycling to stand up paddle boarding, and you can’t forget fishing! You can rent gear at the lake as well as boats, boards, kayaks, and jet skis or just bring your own. Or if you prefer being on land, there are some great hikes and bike paths in the area as well. There are several campsites in the area and they book up quick so make sure to reserve in advance!

Take your favorite furry friend on the road trip of their lives to the 7th Annual Walk for Animals benefiting Napa Humane. All are invited to walk along the beautiful Napa riverfront with or in honor of their beloved dogs. There will be music, giveaways, a silent auction, and plenty of photo ops for you and Fido. All proceeds go straight to the pet-saving programs that Napa Humane provides to the community so “move your paws for the cause” and register now!

If wine tasting is your number one priority, check out the 28th Annual NVWLA Wine Seminar.This year’s theme is “Napa Valley, Alta California and the Wine Legacy of New Spain”. This can’t miss experience for Spanish wine lovers takes a tour of classic and modern wines from Baja to Alta California. The Napa Valley Wine Library also puts on it’s Annual Tasting the same weekend.
