Big Stuff is Happening on the Big Island – The former Hapuna Beach Resort on Hawaii Island’s beautiful Kohala Coast made its debut on June 25th as The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort.

The newly renovated public spaces include, pools, restaurants, 17 new suites, 232 guest rooms, and of course, the signature Westin Heavenly® beds to ensure a good night’s sleep.

“We are thrilled to bring the Westin brand to the Big Island of Hawaii, where we will welcome guests and the community to an elevated resort that celebrates the wellness as well as the area’s local culture and ease of island spirit,” says Kisan Jo, President of Prince Resorts Hawaii, in a recent press release. “As we continue to build on the Westin brand promise of delivering to guests a best-in-class experience, the introduction of our resort signals a new wave of island luxury, furthering the Kohala Coast’s status as a sought-after destination.”

Restaurants

There are four new culinary concepts on the property whether you’re looking for a coffee and light bite at Piko Coffee + Bar, or a Mediterranean dining experience with locally sourced ingredients and craft cocktails at Merida. There’s also a daily breakfast buffet offering fresh juices and smoothies and a poolside grill that’s the perfect spot for a casual lunch and a local brew.

Family Travel

Need a break? Send your kids to the Westin Family Program’s Kids Club for a day of nature-inspired fun, while you relax in a private cabana or pool ledge lounger at the newly renovated adults-only infinity pool.

Wellness:

The Westin brand’s mission is “to be a partner in guests’ well-being”, which is why they offer both a CrossFit studio and signature WestinWORKOUT® fitness studio, featuring Peloton and TRX state-of-the-art exercise equipment. If working out indoors isn’t your thing, they also offer guided runs through their RunWESTIN™ program.

As a sister property to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, there is a shuttle bus and walking path to join the two properties, as well as the ability to charge to your room from both locations so there’s no need to bring your wallet with you.

Fun Fact: Hapuna in Hawaiian means “spring of life”, as this location is home to freshwater springs, enjoyed by generations of Native Hawaiians as a place to rest and rejuvenate. Although these springs are mostly underground now, there’s a stunning art sculpture overlooking the water that pays tribute to the life-giving waters of Hapuna Beach.

Along with its rich history and luxury multi-million dollar renovations, The Westin Hapuna Beach boasts unmatched ocean views. Want to take a look for yourself? Check out the LIVE WEBCAM.
