NAMI Marin General Meeting

Jan 21, 2019
07:00 PM until 08:30 PM

Monday, January 21, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

The Life Passage Planning Project Focusing on Integrated Community Services (ICS)

Serving Marin County

One of the greatest challenges that trustees of special needs trusts face when providing for a beneficiary with mental illness is the lack of appropriate case management services. The traditional focus of most special needs trusts is limited to preservation of benefits. Irene Klein, County Programs Director for ICS will focus on how having the trustee work with Integrated Community Services case management services can expand the ability of the trust to provide a better quality of life of the beneficiary. Stephen W. Dale will discuss different management models when creating a special needs trust, and how to create a special needs trust that incorporates care management for the beneficiary can help ensure the best quality of life possible.

Irene Klein – County Programs Director

¶Irene's passion for mental health services started when she was a child, growing up with a brother who had physical and psychological disabilities. Irene received her BA in Psychology, from the University of San Francisco and her MS in Rehabilitation ¶Counseling specializing in Mental Health, from SF State. For eight years, Irene worked as a Vocational Consultant with the County of Marin Volunteer Job Coach Program promoting volunteer jobs for individuals with mental health needs.  Irene has been with ICS for 20 years, supervising the  Employment and Independent Living Skills Programs for County Mental Health consumers.
