New in Town

Cowboys, queens and springtime things — April’s selections for New in Town highlight a handful of Novato restaurants plus sophisticated retailers throughout Marin. We start with the reopening of a shuttered neighborhood favorite, Star Restaurant, which added cowboy flair and new Latin American dishes to its classic diner setting. Further downtown, La Maison de la Reine (“The House of the Queen”) brings banh mi to Novato, along with impressive lunch and dinner services of Vietnamese offerings. Lastly, Toast restaurant now hosts the creations of chef Guillermo Lara four evenings a week, serving up Latin fusion on a beautifully creative menu.

As far as retail, Marin is enjoying everything shiny and stylish. The boutique California Girl Jewelry moved its exquisite collection and repair services to Downtown San Rafael’s Fourth St. And for the traveler within all of us, Topdrawer’s new store in Larkspur Landing offers the finest bags, accessories and cameras that center quality materials and craftsmanship. Lastly, Aritzia opened a location at The Village in Corte Madera, infusing its “Everyday Luxury” ethos into every decorative detail at this brick and mortar.

And this is just a snapshot of Marin’s thriving food scene; we have also been busy this year shining the light on new hotels and other services, new art and cultural centers, shops and boutiques and beauty and wellness centers.
