Madam Secretary

Madeleine Albright speaks in San Rafael.

TIMOTHY GREENFIELD-SANDERS

IN 1997, MADELEINE K. ALBRIGHT became the first female Secretary of State — the highest-ranking woman in the history of U.S. government at the time. Albright reinforced America’s alliances, advocated democracy and human rights and promoted American trade and business, labor and environmental standards abroad. In 2012 President Barack Obama awarded her the nation’s highest civilian honor, the U.S. Medal of Freedom. She will be in San Rafael at the Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium on September 26 as part of the MPSF speaker series. speakerseries.net
