About Halleck Creek Ranch:

Halleck Creek Ranch to raise funds in support of the ranch, which for 40 years has been an incredible resource to the community, offering therapeutic horseback riding programs for Bay Area youth and adults with special needs.

>The Friday evening event hosted 215 attendees, with the assistance of 15 volunteers and included a VIP reception featuring wine tasting and cheese, as well as dining under the stars. Music was provided by Buck Nickels and Loose Change. It was sold out a month in advance and the festivities raised over $210,000 in funds, a 27% increase from last year. The proceeds were raised with the help of auctioneer, Vince Morrow of Backroads Auction Services.

The work at Halleck Creek Ranch helps people with disabilities reap both physical and mental health benefits by spending time with horses. Riders from around the Bay Area gather in beautiful Nicasio Valley where dedicated volunteers pair them with appropriate horses. The ranch owns many different breeds to match the different needs of riders. They are donated by private owners, giving horses a second career.

The ranch’s Silver Buckle Award goes to riders who have achieved a high level of excellence despite their disabilities, and this year’s award went to adaptive outdoorsman, Enock Glidden. Born with spina bifida, Enock is an avid rock climber and skier, and he recently climbed the Zodiac route on Yosemite’s El Capitan.

Halleck Creek’s next event will be their Open House and horse Show in May, featuring a horse show, potluck BBQ, live band, family-friendly activities and a tour of the ranch and facility.
