Keeping It Cool

A 2015 PEW RESEARCH Center survey shows that there is a global consensus on climate change. All 40 nations polled said it is a serious problem, with a global median of 54 percent considering it a very serious problem. Marin residents are concerned as well, and they’re going above and beyond the call of duty. In a recent climate action plan update, the county planned to reduce community greenhouse gas emissions to 30 percent below 1990 levels and to reduce municipal emissions to 15 percent below 1990 levels by 2020. In the 2006 plan, Marin set a community emissions reduction target of 15 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 — a goal that was reached eight years ahead of schedule in 2012. marinsustainability.org/climate
