Free Parks Day

Take in the splendor and enjoy free entrance to Muir Woods this Friday. The good news is: you get to go to the park and park for free. The bad news is: chances are the parking lot is going to be at capacity. The seasonal Muir Woods shuttle will have just stopped running so plan accordingly. Grab a park map and guide as you enter and pick whichever trail you’d like to traverse. Before you leave, try to do the loop that crosses all four bridges to take a look at the Cathedral and Bohemian Grove as well as the Pinchot Tree — one of the oldest and tallest in the forest. Notice all the Vitamin C-rich Redwood sorrels that surround the trees and see if you could tell the difference between a sedge, rush and grass. Muir Woods is a place full of intrigue that many wildlife species, like some of the last remaining Coho Salmon and Steelhead Trout, call home. Please treat it with respect.
