On April 6, the picturesque Marin Art and Garden Center bloomed with joy as hundreds of 270 Media supporters gathered to celebrate Marin Magazine’s 20th Anniversary. The sunny garden party brought together current and former magazine staffers, longtime readers, community leaders and friends — all dressed to impress in vibrant sundresses, wide-brimmed hats and classic seersucker suits — for an afternoon celebrating two decades of storytelling that shine a spotlight on the people and places that make Marin so special.

The Ultimate Garden Party
Guests mingled amongst the blooming gardens while enjoying a seasonal spread of organic bites, including springtime pastas, fresh spring rolls and seasonal salads from acclaimed caterer Stacy Scott. A generous host bar enabled partygoers to toast with glasses of wine from J Vineyards, Orin Swift Cellars and Louis M. Martini Winery, along with creative cocktails crafted by Sausalito Liquor Company — all served with stylish cocktail napkins courtesy of Citizens Private Bank.
Really Nice Raffle Prizes
The soundtrack to the afternoon came courtesy of beloved local musician Dan Durkin, frontman of Petty Theft and The Illeagles, whose soulful vocals and acoustic guitar set the perfect celebratory tone.
More than $10,000 in raffle prizes — most of which were provided by Marin businesses — were a crowd favorite as guests eagerly gathered to find out if they held a winning ticket. Prizes included dining certificates from Corner Bar and Buckeye Roadhouse; luxury spa treatments and health services from Jyzen, Hayes Valley Medical Esthetics, Citrine and Metta Yoga; luxury home and travel goods from Marin Luggage, Porsche, Lotus San Francisco and Scandia Home; experiences from Bay Club, Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience and SeaPlane Adventures; services from SDI Insulation/Fireplace; and fine jewelry from Cast Jewelry.
Striking a Pose and Sharing Sentiments
There was no shortage of Instagram-worthy moments at the soirée. Guests struck their best poses at the SnapFiesta photo booth to star on a faux Marin Magazine cover — either as themselves or as their AI-generated alter ego. Others gravitated toward the sleek red Porsche and pristine white Lotus gleaming on the lawn, thanks to Marin Luxury Cars, for a quick glamour shot or two.
Marin Staffers and Contributors Over the Years
During the welcome speech, Editorial Director Mimi Towle — who has been with the magazine for the entire 20 years — thanked her mother, Nikki N. Wood (aka “NN”), pointing out that not only does Nikki N. share her years of publishing wisdom with everyone, she is also the go-to IT person in the office.
Cocktails and Delicious Bites
Mimi then introduced Nikki C. Wood (aka “NC”), the magazine’s publisher, crediting her for the party’s success. “Nikki C. has brought so many amazing talents to the team, but her ability to both have and create fun is at the top of the list!” said Mimi.
Parting Tote Bags Stuffed with Local Love
Before heading out, everyone received a stylish Marin Magazine 20th Anniversary tote bag, created by Emoro and stuffed with goodies from mostly local businesses, including Hadley General Contractors, KiVi Organics, SDI Insulation/Fireplace, Marin Luxury Cars, Porsche Marin, Bluemercury, Rustic Bakery, Hayes Valley Medical Esthetics, 38north Design Co., Sausalito Liquor Co., Jyzen and Hot Yoga Republic — plus a commemorative copy of the magazine’s anniversary issue to remember the day.
A portion of the party’s proceeds benefited the Marin Art and Garden Center, a 501c3 nonprofit.
