On September 20, Marin Court Appointed Special Advocates raised $1.3 million at their annual Rising Stars Gala: Fostering Growth for a Brighter Tomorrow. After experiencing significant funding losses this year, the heartwarming success of the Gala will help to support Marin CASA as they continue to work for overall funding stability, and to ensure that they can maintain advocacy for children in foster care.
The event was held at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross and was vibrant with the night’s fundraising efforts. Love in the Mix took charge of the gala’s entertainment to maintain the lively atmosphere, and A Fork Full of Earth provided dinner for guests.
Activities included a live auction hosted by Award-Winning Auctioneer Ellen Toscano, with prizes like exclusive experiences and luxury packages. A silent auction was also held, with plenty of additionally exciting opportunities like local art or getaways. Guests also had the chance to make more direct contributions to CASA’s cause, with their Fund-a-Need raise later in the night.
240 attendees, including community leaders, sponsors and supporters, were present throughout the night. Guests included Mario Ernesto Lopez, Esq., Community Advocate for The Canal and West Marin at the Marin Community Foundation, along with Amber Ray; the Freitas Foundation’s Scott and Diane Phillips, Megan Neale and Nancy Lambert; and members of the Ross Valley Women’s League. Elected officials in attendance included Assemblymember Damon Connolly, Supervisor Eric Lucan, Supervisor Brian Colbert and Corte Madera Councilmember Eli Beckman, joined by former Marin CASA Board Chair John Botti and his wife Heather. The program featured remarks by Board Chairman Richard Bernstein, along with former foster youth Alexander Crossman and Alexandra Talbot, underscoring the strong community commitment to advocating for children in Marin.
