About Marin Museum of Contemporary Art:

The Marin Museum of Contemporary Art connects art, community and artistic expression. The museum is a vibrant arts center located at Hamilton Field in Novato. It offers free contemporary art exhibitions that showcase local, national and international artists. More than 55 artists have working studios on the MarinMOCA campus, providing an atmosphere of creative energy in which contemporary art flourishes.

MOCA was originally founded in 1983 as Indian Valley Artists, Inc., with a mission to create an organization that would provide a supportive structure for artists’ growth while incorporating a strong element of community service for Marin County. In 2007, this dynamic art organization became Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (MarinMOCA) and the member artists are now known as the Artists of MarinMOCA.

The museum continues to champion artists, both emerging and established. In 2017 more than 400 artists exhibited work in its two galleries. It partners with local organizations such as The Artists of Cedars and Alchemia, both of which offer programs for adults with disabilities, giving its artists the opportunity to exhibit work in a museum setting. In 2018, MarinMOCA launched its art enrichment program with the Novato Unified School District’s 4th grade classes.
