Dog Surfing Championship

The Norcal Dog Surfing event and World Championships for Dog Surfing will be taking place in Pacifica this Saturday. During the event there will be a number of activities including the surf competition, pet wellness fair, mobile pet adoptions, a dog fashion and costume contest, and more. Awards and prizes will be presented to first, second, and third placeholders for each competition category, which include small, medium and large dog, as well as tandem and others. This event is not only for sport and for fun, it also supports great causes. Help local charities raise money by sponsoring a contestant or a team — a portion of the proceeds of this event go to dog, surfing and environmental non-profits.

San Francisco Jewish Film Festival

Founded in 1980, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (SFJFF) is the largest and longest-running festival of its kind and a leader in the curation and presentation of new film and media exploring the complexities of Jewish life around the world. Presenting more than 65 films and 135 screenings, performances and events over 18 days, SFJFF’s highly anticipated program attracts over 40,000 filmgoers and industry professionals to venues in San Francisco, Palo Alto, San Rafael, Oakland and Albany. Films playing at Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center include Carl Laemmle and The Humorist on Friday, August 2, The Tobacconist and Stand Up, Falling Down on Saturday, August 3, My Polish Honeymoon and The Keeper on Sunday, August 4 plus many more.

Movie Night in the Park San Rafael

Many family-friendly movies are coming to a parks in San Rafael on Thursday evenings. The San Rafael Community Services Department invites guests to enjoy these free movies under the stars. Bring friends and family, blankets, low chairs, picnic food, snacks and flashlight. This Thursday’s film, Up, will be screening at the Falkirk Cultural Center.

American Craft Show

Learn about the process of making, get inspired, and prepare to be wowed this Friday through Sunday at the American Craft Show. Meet and shop more than 250 of the best jewelry, clothing, furniture, and home décor artists from across the country — including a juried showcase of talented emerging artists — held in San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center. Highlights include a special artisanal food and beverage marketplace and Power of Scent interactive installation.
