Broadway Under the Stars: A Chorus Line

The Transcendence Theatre Company opens its 2019 Broadway Under the Stars summer season with A Chorus Line, featuring a cast of Broadway and touring professionals performing the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musicals at Jack London State Historic Park. Evening performances of A Chorus Line are presented on weekends starting this Friday, June 14 to June 30. Directed by Amy Miller, with choreography and associate direction by Jim Cooney and musical direction by Daniel Weidlein, the cast will include Kristin Piro (An American in Paris, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) playing the role of Cassie Ferguson; Matthew Rossoff (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Zach; Natalie Gallo (Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!) as Diana Morales; and Alicia L. Albright (Frozen, Wicked) as Val Clark. Conceived, directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line features music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban.

The Mountain Play Grease

Check out the final Mountain Play show of the season this weekend. Grease tells a story of teenage love, the shifting roles of women, and the rock and roll revolution. Set in a typical post-World War II 1959 high school, Grease tells the tale of Danny, leader of the “greaser” pack, and Sandy, stereotypical good girl, who reconnect after a summer romance. Surrounded by Rydell High’s Burger Palace Boys and Pink Ladies, we witness Danny and Sandy attempt to rekindle their romance despite the challenges of 1950s social expectations and peer pressure.

Walking tour of Mill Valley’s Living Shoreline

Spend a morning walking and talking with experts on the evolution and ecology of marshes in Richardson Bay, and see rare marsh flora in bloom. This event is part of the Nature Space program, offered in partnership with Mill Valley Recreation to create new opportunities to learn about our local environment. Registration is required for this event.

The Weight Band at Terrapin Crossroads

The Weight Band originated in 2013 inside the famed Woodstock, New York barn of Levon Helm when Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante — both former members of The Band — performed “Songs of The Band” with Band founder, Garth Hudson, alongside Jimmy Vivino and Byron Isaacs. Inspired to carry on the legacy of the unforgettable rock group, Weider, Ciarlante and Isaacs began performing fan favorites from The Band catalog to audiences across the country, inviting Brian Mitchell and Marty Grebb to complete their sound. The Weight Band later added Albert Rogers, Michael Bram and Matt Zeiner to make up their current lineup, featuring songs from The Band’s treasured catalog as well as new original tracks that complement The Band’s timeless legacy. Come see them play this Saturday, June 15 in the Grate Room at Terrapin Crossroads.

Phono Del Sol

Phono del Sol is back. After a one year hiatus, The Bay Bridged and Noise Pop are joining forces to bring back the beloved park event. Expect everything you love to return this summer for free at Potrero del Sol Park on Saturday, June 15th. Called San Francisco’s “Best Music Festival” by San Francisco Magazine, Phono del Sol will host nationally renowned bands and beloved local acts on its outdoor stages. Throughout the day, attendees will be able to enjoy artisanal drinks, along with bites from some of the tastiest food trucks SF has to offer. Best of all? This year’s festival will be totally free with suggested donations going to support The Bay Bridged, a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization.
