SF Cheese Fest is the premier urban cheese festival in California, returning for the 5th time to food-obsessed San Francisco. More than 20 California artisan cheesemakers — including Marin favorites Cowgirl Creamery — showcase their cheeses alongside artisan bites while guests sip local wines, beers, and ciders, and enjoy live music. A vibrant mix of cheese lovers, chefs, and other taste-makers rub elbows with the best cheesemaking talent in the Golden State for a fun and flavorful evening. The SF Cheese Fest will be held again at the historic Social Hall SF on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 6 – 9 p.m. Educational seminars will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2019, in collaboration with The Cheese School of San Francisco.
Explore the fine works of 135 local and international artists this Saturday and Sunday at Old Mill Park. The special presentation grove will showcase environmentally themed art and the children’s area will host an eco-aware art activity for kids of all ages. Live music from Gypsy Jazz to Blues and more changes hourly on our main stage. In this year’s featured exhibit, Bay Area artists will explore the climate crisis through the lens of contemporary art, in collaboration with Green Change, a grassroots environmental network. Climate change will have a profound impact on the living systems of our planet and the welfare of humanity. The implications of the crisis, as well as its root causes and potential solutions, can be difficult to visualize and daunting to address. Through visual storytelling, interactive installations, and participatory artwork, the artists and the Green Change network will transform the redwood grove into a creative space for engagement and climate action.
Gems, crystals, and so on, surround us. They adorn our bodies, we collect them in video games, some purportedly have healing powers — if you believe that kind of thing — are highly coveted and generally come with a hefty price as a result. So whether you’re a fan of these multifaceted baubles or have a loved one who is, be smart and take advantage of the Gem Faire taking place this weekend. From Friday to Sunday at the Marin Center guests can find fine jewelry, precious and semi-precious gemstones, millions of beads, crystals, gold and silver, minerals and much more all at manufacturer’s prices. The event will be featuring over 70 exhibitors from around the world and the convenient bonus of having your jewelry repaired and cleaned while you shop. Guests will also have the chance to win door prizes each hour and those who bring a can of food to benefit SF-Marin Food Bank get in for free.
