April is Cooking at Book Passage

Spring is in the air, and with it comes a full table of exciting food-related events from Book Passage Bookstores. The Book Passage Cooks with Books program feature events that take place at Bay Area restaurants. Guests attend a meal that is prepared under the supervision of a local or celebrity chef (and since the Bay Area is one of the world's culinary capitals, that often means both!). Throughout the meal, the author-chef mingles with attendees and discusses his or her latest book.

Sunday, April 3, chefs Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quinonez Denton visit A16 restaurant in San Francisco with their cookbook, Around the Fire. The Dentons are 2016 James Beard Award nominees for Best Chef Northwest, and will discuss their wonderfully creative, edgy, and surprisingly vegetarian-friendly style of wood-fired cooking offered at their acclaimed restaurant, Ox, in Portland, Oregeon. Thursday, April 7, drink the Devil’s Acre with master mixologist Duggan McDonnell at Cavallo Point’s Cooking School in Sausalito. In this class, McDonnell will share fun insights, stories, and some libations from his popular new book, Drinking the Devil’s Acre, while the Cavallo Point kitchen prepares a dinner menu inspired by the selected cocktails. Sunday, April 17, Pati Jinich of the PBS TV series “Pati’s Mexican Table,” will appear at Spinster Sisters restaurant in Santa Rosa to share Mexican Today: New and Rediscovered Recipes for Contemporary Kitchens. Thursday, April 21, winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters: Season 3” Floyd Cardoz will come to Insalata’s with his latest cookbook, Floyd Cardoz: Flavorwalla. Cardoz is the celebrated New York City chef of Tabla, North End Grill, and his newest restaurant, Paowalla. He also created the food for the feature film "The Hundred-Foot Journey." Thursday, April 28, Sarah Moulton of TV’s “Sara’s Weeknight Meals” visits Left Bank restaurant in Larkspur with Home Cooking 101. As a protégée of Julia Child, executive chef of Gourmet magazine, Food Editor of ABC-TV's "Good Morning America," the diminutive chef has made her mark over and over again.
