Jewish Film Festival

The 36th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, presented by the Jewish Film Institute, returns to San Rafael this weekend. SFJFF celebrates excellence in Jewish and independent cinema with three weeks of groundbreaking film throughout the Bay Area with memorable festival guests and special events. Some of this year’s movies include In Search of Israeli Cuisine, playing on Friday, where Michael Solomonov (Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking) explores a diverse cuisine drawn from numerous cultures and well as The Writer on Saturday, where critically acclaimed Israeli Arab writer Sayed Kashua (writer of the hit TV series Arab Labor, SFJFF 2008–13), sharpens his quill once more and delivers a masterfully nuanced dramatic series about Kateb, a 40-year-old Israeli Arab writer.
