Make It, Take It, Wrap It

As a kid, receiving presents was an exhilarating affair. After dropping hints or just talking about what you want all year, the day finally rolls around where you got a bike or a Barbie dream house or American Girl doll or whatever. But the emphasis on presents shifts as kids grow into adults. Suddenly the space underneath the tree becomes a lot more spacious, filled with envelopes as opposed to big boxes. Of course, good things live inside the envelopes, but needs change and parents have a hard time keeping up with the most recent desire. The evolution of gifting doesn't end here, however. As we amass possessions, some of the gifts that become most valuable are the thoughtful ones that required time and effort, and here is where handmade gifts reign supreme. This weekend, try to craft your own gifts at the Mill Valley Community Center. Local artisans will instruct easy crafts for kids and adults to make and take home. The event is set to feature crafts to make and purchase, live music, photos with Santa, holiday dress-up with local theatre company, cookie decorating and more! Entry to the event is free to all, craft prices vary, including free to $15 activities.
