Memorial Day is on the horizon, and with it comes a slew of summer-worthy activities designed to get you out in the sun and immersed in community.
This Sunday, gather up the family, slather on the sunblock and head to the Muir Beach Volunteer Fireman’s Barbecue (12–5 p.m.). A guaranteed good time, the outdoor event features live music, a festive atmosphere, barefoot dancing, delicious food and plenty of playthings and activities to keep the kids happy.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to take in some culture with your rays, check out the Caledonia Street Fair (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), a block party which spans the Sausalito side street and houses an array of art booths in all mediums along with food vendors, a children’s area and live entertainment.
Come Memorial Day, rise with the sun and park a beach chair along Miller Avenue for the Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade. This year’s theme is “Honoring those who gave their lives for freedom,” and will be supplemented by a special, pre-parade ceremony in Downtown Mill Valley’s Lytton Square, where the I Love A Parade committee will honor local veterans who lost their lives in combat (10–10:30 a.m.).
