Miles Davis was (and continues to be) widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He was at the forefront of several major developments in jazz music, including bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz and jazz fusion. In 2006, Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which recognized him as "one of the key figures in the history of jazz".
Celebrate his legacy this weekend and check out the Miles Ahead Group. The group is a seven piece psychedelic jazz group focused on Miles' late-sixties and early-seventies musical explorations. They’ll play selections from Miles' In A Silent Way, On The Corner and landmark Bitches Brew albums plus original music. Made up of Mike Kapitan, Michael Bello, Anna Pfiefer, Tom Finch, Cayce Carnahan, Marc Carmi Smith and Ben Isaacs, this super group attracts everyone from jazz and jam band aficionados to the average listener with their tight musicianship and improvised breakdowns.
