Take a Stroll Along Richardson Bay

WHAT’S BETTER THAN spending time with your loved ones? Doing so while simultaneously being active, learning and enjoying nature — and thanks to a recent powerhouse creative/public partnership, you’ll be able to do just that.

Until the start of 2020, people walking the path at Richardson Bay’s Bothin Marsh will be able to read A Stone Sat Still, a new book by award-winning children’s author and illustrator Brendan Wenzel. Enlarged book pages have been posted near the path, beckoning passersby to look, listen and interact with the area while they learn about the stone in the book.

And there’s plenty to take in — the 106-acre marsh hosts a wide range of wildlife, including over 400 species of migratory birds traveling on the Pacific Flyway. The half-mile walk is not strenuous and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
