Since I reviewed the Academy of Art University (AAU) Graduate Fashion show for last week's blog post, I thought it only appropriate for this week to help announce the AAU Fashion Merchandising program's new pop-up shop –– aptly titled 'SHOP' –– opening tomorrow May 20th. It will be open until May 31st (hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday) and features merchandise from current and past students.
Well-known brands including Levis, Banana Republic and UNIQLO have donated products that have been customized by the AAU fashion departments. In addition to these modified pieces, BFA Product Development classes have created additional items including jewelry and accessories, and knitwear students have contributed apparel.
AAU alumni are also participating: Mansoor Scott will offer dresses and tops/pullovers with leather and lace detailing. Freda Salvador will of course offer footwear, and Thommy Pham of SFC San Francycle will sell graphic shirts and accessories. Void The Brand will also be there, selling high end, minimalist designs.
And if you went to the fashion show, it's at the same venue (2225 Jerrold Avenue, San Francisco). All proceeds go to the scholarship fund.
