On March 18, 225 smartly attired woman gathered at the Meadow Club for St. Vincent de Paul’s Sip & Socialize fundraising event, hosted by Vinnies’ Auxiliary Board. The first-ever, sold-out soiree — a combination sit-down luncheon, shopping boutique and Spring fashion show — was designed to introduce new supporters to the non-profit’s ongoing work to end hunger, poverty and homelessness in Marin County.
Event goers sipped wines from Oakmont, sampled aperitifs from Jardesca and nibbled on an extravagant cheese board from A Girl and Her Board as they perused the onsite shopping boutique, filled with wares from Kathy Kamei Designs, UB Chic, Cleo and Mathilde, Kiki Beans, The Caviar Co., Kendra Scott, J. McLaughlin, Cresalia Jewelers, Lilybites Vegan Chocolates, Madge and Me, Anne Archer Pearls and Carly Brandes. All participating vendors committed 25% of their event sales back to St. Vincent’s.
Later, guests enjoyed lunch prepared by the Meadow Club in Fairfax, and received a first glance at Trina Turk’s new colorful Spring line during a live fashion show. Several lucky individuals won raffle prizes including a Christian Dior handbag, International Orange spa package and a tandem skydiving experience.
Marin County Supervisor Damon Connolly and supervisor aide Mary Sackett led the fund-a-need drive to raise additional money for Vinnie’s weekly Housing Help Desk that spearheads helping homeless and in-need individuals with rental assistance and deposits, car repairs, utility bill assistance and more. The fund-a-need successfully raised enough money to secure a matching grant from Built for Zero to end veteran homelessness.

A freelance writer in Marin who writes about family, kids and parenting, Glass is the mother to one son, one dog and a hamster named Miss Geri. When she’s not writing, trekking up steep hills in Marin or driving her kid to sports practice, she and her family spend time in their tiny cabin in Lake Tahoe. She avidly supports the California Academy of Sciences, a world class science museum and research institution, and the Institute on Aging which provides much needed services to Bay Area seniors and disabled adults. Glass is obsessed with baking the perfect loaf of banana bread, something she makes so often she no longer needs to look at a recipe card.
