Ten years ago, Larkspur resident Norbert Bajurin began a journey that resulted in the 34th America's Cup coming to San Francisco Bay.  In his role as Commodore, Bajurin was looking for a financial life ring for near destitute Golden Gate Yacht in 2001 when the opportunity of a lifetime sailed in. Billionaire Larry Ellison was in need of a yacht club partner for his bid for the America’s Cup and he wanted a Bay Area one. A flurry of emails and phone calls between Bajurin and Ellison’s team resulted in a long-term partnership that has brought the Cup back to the United States after a 15-year absence, and saved Golden Gate Yacht Club from having to close its doors.
