Fight for Air Climb, the American Lung Association’s annual fundraising event, was held on May 1 in the Bay Area.
The Fight for Air Climb event series has been held in cities all over the United States for the past 15 years and is the organization’s top community fundraising event. While the event has traditionally been held indoors, it was moved outdoors in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the Bay Area, Fight for Air Climb involved an exploration of San Francisco’s plentiful outdoor staircases.
On race day, teams of participants, including a large showing from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office as well as local American Lung Association executive committee members, tackled a racecourse of open-air stairways as they collected points, prizes, and raised money for the Bay Area Chapter of the nonprofit. The chapter offered a virtual race challenge for those preferring to remain separate from larger groups.
Sponsors for Fight for Air Climb in the Bay Area included Brayton Purcell LLP, Charles Schwab, Western Allied, Summit Financial and FluidStance.
