Grapes and Grass

Most businesses struggled in the wake of the shelter-in-place mandate — many closed temporarily, and some shuttered for good. Aside from hand sanitizer and toilet paper companies, a few other industries saw demand for their product go up. Among them? Weed and wine. During the first week of sheltering in place, Bay Area residents drank 42 percent more than usual, according to data from BACtrack, a San Francisco company that produces smartphone-connected breathalyzer devices. Boozy Zoom parties and video call-induced hangovers became the norm, as did mixed cocktail delivery from local restaurants. Thankfully, dispensaries were deemed essential, and as delivery is the only way to get marijuana in Marin, residents had options including Nice Guys Delivery and Ona Life to choose for their cannabis fix.
