July 3 @ 10:00 am - July 28 @ 5:00 pm

Majolica Garden, Ceramic Work, Bride Profile

The San Geronimo Valley Community Center debuts Liz Lauter’s solo ceramics collection of Tree of Life inspired sculptures of Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden-from Eve’s point of view. Liz’s ceramics collection of elaborately embellished tree of life sculptures and platters hand painted with vibrant majolica ceramic colors is best described as “Abbondanza” –a style of decorative abundance. Her free standing and wall mounted sculptures and “istoriato” narrative majolica painted platters use traditional Italian majolica glazing techniques on terra cotta clay, with opaque white tin glaze and hand painted vibrant overglaze colors. She hand-builds and sculpts with terra cotta clay, often adding fused and flame worked glass details. Gardens of flowers with dangling berries, fruits, flying birds attached with wires animate the stage she sets for introspective and personal scenes reflective of her feminine identity.
The opening reception is July 9th, from 4-7pm. The venue is open on weekends from 12-5
