TEDxMarin SATURDAY NIGHT SALON on Psychedelic Science and Medicine. SPECIAL EVENT
June 10 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$32.50
We know psychedelics produce powerful mental effects, including intensifying thoughts, feelings, and perceptions while loosening psychological defenses. As chemicals, psychedelics probe connections between brain physiology and consciousness, among contemporary science’s most intriguing arenas.
Psychedelics have been used for millennia by Indigenous cultures to amplify connections between the mind and the world. Modern science has been researching psychedelics for 150 years. In the 1950s, psychedelics were one of the driving forces in the early days of biological psychiatry.
However, the widespread recreational use of some of these substances and political realities in the 1960s contributed to strict legal regulation, halting research and most public discussion.
The good news is that easing legal restrictions on psychedelics has allowed for a long-awaited renaissance in researching these Plant medicines. Interest in psychedelic research has mushroomed (pun intended) and has now returned to mainstream science, with peer-reviewed results for mental health issues proving extraordinary. Psychedelic-assisted therapy is becoming a first-line treatment for many hard-to-treat illnesses like addiction, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, and in end-of-life care. And it is just getting started.
FOR OUR JUNE 10TH EVENT
We will bring together experts and clinicians to share the latest science on the therapeutic breakthroughs of psychedelics. We will explore the types of psychedelic therapies and their role in the future of mental health care; we will explore the moral rights to these substances, what’s legal and what isn’t, and the cultural implications of this emerging field, including micro-dosing. And we will explore how these medicines might inform our understanding of the nature of “mind” and “consciousness.”
This will be a not-to-be-missed event for anyone interested in cutting-edge psychedelic science, mental health therapy, and a curiosity about the nature of consciousness.
We expect the show to sell out, so you might want to grab a ticket soon. This will be live and in person only.
Both Reserved and General admission tickets are available.
