It’s pretty well known that I’m a complete jewelry fiend. If I don’t leave the house with my ring and at least a pair of earrings on I feel totally naked. But constantly purchasing new pieces can get expensive very quickly, especially if I just need a big statement necklace or fancy earrings for one event (like a fundraiser or a wedding) but don’t want to be photographed in them again.
When I heard about Rocksbox, a monthly designer jewelry rental service, I was intrigued and knew I had to try it out. For just $19 a month, you receive a box of 3 pieces of designer jewelry that can be exchanged as many times as you want during your subscription (shipping is always free and they include a return label in your box).
The process is simple: sign up, then take a brief style quiz where you answer questions about your jewelry preferences like gold vs. silver jewelry, statement vs. delicate pieces, etc. You will then see a curated selection of jewelry you can add to your wish list, and you’re all set! Your stylist will then select 3 pieces of jewelry based on your style quiz and wishlist and will ship the box out to you.
I ended up averaging only one box a month for the three months I’ve been subscribing so far because I wanted to keep wearing the jewelry in my box (see my sets below), but if you want to wear the pieces only once and send them back the next day to get a new box you can totally do that too! The only catch is that you have to send back all three pieces each time unless you want to purchase some to keep (everything is available for purchase for a discounted price from retail). And if you’re here in the Bay Area, the turnaround time is super fast since the company is based here, so shipping only takes a day or two.
Believe me – adding new pieces to your wish list gets so addicting! I’m constantly checking back to see what new jewelry they’ve added so I can get it on my wish list. The list of designers is always growing as well, but with big names like Kendra Scott, Trina Turk, House of Harlow 1960, Gorjana, and Vanessa Mooney, they already have a premium roster. I also like the idea of giving a subscription as a gift for friends – each box they receive is a gift from you!
