Southern Marin

Malibu Farm

Tiburon

A home-grown and sustainable ethos combine with simple ingredients and techniques at this waterfront destination in Tiburon. The menu leans into seafood — there are ample choices for oysters, fish and other ocean treats — as well as vegan and gluten-free imaginings. But there are still mouth-watering choices for the carnivores among us, like a roasted half-chicken served with thyme jus, or the grilled spring lamb chops.

Bring a date or simply come to unwind in Corner Bar’s sleek interior, which features two bars — one large, one small — plus plenty of window space overlooking the town square. A menu of Mediterranean bites, crafted by chef Michael Siegel of Playa and Floodwater, complements Corner Bar’s artfully crafted cocktails. No reservations required.

Central Marin

Laos Kitchen

San Rafael

A sit-down restaurant in downtown San Rafael blends owner Manivone Vongsouthi’s Thai/Lao heritage in dishes of nam kao todd with homemade Lao sausage and plates of papaya salad studded with Thai green eggplant. Large plates of kap piet sem and kao prik sem feature house made noodles and Vongsouthi makes all the curry pastes in house, too, and garlic lovers will swoon over plates of garlic fish. There’s even Lao beer.

887 4th St, San Rafael, 415.456.4490

La Gastronomia di Porchetta

Fairfax

Like the town it’s situated in, La Gastronomia in Fairfax is a lively and cozy restaurant best known for its authentic cuisine and warm atmosphere. Originally from a coastal town in Italy, Elena and her husband Gustavo opened their restaurant following support in local farmers markets (where they now source the ingredients for their dishes). Enjoy a meal on their outdoor patio and experience a taste of the Italian coast in the Californian sun.
