On behalf of Senior Access, we appreciated Jim Wood’s well-written editorial entitled “Marin Benefits from the MCF” in the December 2006 issue of Marin Magazine. For the record, I would like to clarify the services that Senior Access provides.

Senior Access is the only 501(c) (3) non-profit licensed Adult Day Health Care Program in Marin County. Our mission is to help Marin’s older and disabled adults remain independent and part of the community for as long as possible. Our purpose is to prevent institutionalization, nursing home placement and in-home isolation for frail adults with chronic health conditions, physical disabilities and Alzheimer’s disease and provide essential respite and support for caregivers. Adult day health care is a compassionate alternative to institutionalization or in-home isolation for frail elders and adults with chronic health conditions and physical disabilities. Senior Access is a Medi-Cal program and provides adult day health care services for residents of Marin County on a sliding scale based on their ability to pay.

The article “Give the Gift of Hope This Season” sparked a new holiday tradition in my family. We’ve picked one of your featured charities to support this Christmas and we’ll continue to pick a new charity each year. It’s true, sometimes philanthropy can be the best present of all.

–  Thank you, Laura Frank
