Students build a foundation of knowledge in their core classes and have opportunities to connect what they’ve learned beyond the classroom. We encourage students to explore and engage with the natural world through our extensive Outdoor Education Programs.
An abundance of research suggests that young children today benefit from spending more time outdoors. Families face intense schedules and inviting screens that make it increasingly difficult to find time to opt outside. Marin Primary & Middle School weaves Outdoor Education seamlessly into our curriculum from preschool through eighth grade.
Through exploration and discovery, MP&MS students experience the natural beauty and diversity of the environment around them often. Our preschool and primary school students visit our on campus Outdoor Education Center Garden as part of their weekly schedule where they learn about life cycles of various plants, planting, tending, and harvesting types of produce, and create art projects and do activities together.
Our unique Tree School program takes our preschool and kindergarten students on weekly adventures to learn and explore in local naturescapes throughout Marin County. Students learn about native flora and fauna and are introduced to local trails and nature resources.
Off campus, our oldest students in middle school travel to National Parks and other destinations for five day overnight trips with their classmates and teachers. These experiences are filled with experiential learning, team building, and hands-on exercises that dive into ecology, biology, and history.
