In 1974, a menswear shop called Barcelino opened in Corte Madera; 40 years later, the owner Sharam Sharei, was greeting well-wishes and avid shoppers at his new women’s wear shop, Barcelino Per Donna, at 755 Bridgeway in Sausalito. While the boutique has been open and operational for several months, the “grand opening” was celebrated last week showcasing Alberto Makali gowns modeled by the New York designer’s young and beautiful muses. Poggio provided hors d’oeuvers and Jacuzzi Family Vineyard was pouring wine and Prosecco.
Makali is a designer “to the stars” in Hollywood where his glamorous gowns are often seen on the Red Carpet and “Dancing with the Stars”. With stores in Hillsdale, San Francisco, and now Sausalito, Barcelino has the largest collection of his sensational evening wear in the Bay Area. It is all tre-glam.
While Sausalito has numerous women’s wear clothiers, the options are slim when it comes to elegant evening wear, so kudos to Mr. Sharei and welcome back to retail in Marin!
