I have been a longtime fan of bareMinerals makeup, and have been using the powder foundation for over 10 years – "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" as the saying goes. But when I saw that the company had recently launched a liquid foundation, I was intrigued but hesitant. If the powder foundation has been working well for me, do I really need a heavy liquid foundation for everyday wear?
So I decided to break out of my routine and put it to the test. Shake, drop, buff say the instructions, and it's really just that easy – shake the bottle, drop a couple of drops of foundation onto the application brush, and buff into the skin. I was amazed at the immediate coverage, and how it instantly seemed to disappear into my skin and feel much more like a powder than a liquid.
I have been using 4 drops for daytime coverage, and 6 drops for an evening look.
The original powder foundation provides good coverage for me, but then I usually use the Broad Spectrum Concealer to cover up any imperfections. However, with the liquid foundation, I don't even need to use the concealer (I just add a little Stroke of Light under my eyes to brighten circles, and use a touch of powder over my nose and forehead to keep my combination skin oiliness at bay).
Some of my co-workers also tested out the bareSkin foundation and gave it rave reviews. One said, "As a usually non-makeup wearer, I felt comfortable in it like I was wearing a light powder rather than a heavy foundation."
The foundation is available in 20 shades and retails for $29 (Perfecting face brush $28 – sold separately).
