The San Francisco Opera Season Opener at the historic War Memorial Opera House began with Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida. The opening-night festivities included the Opera Guild’s Opera Ball, cochaired by Marin’s Mary Poland and Charlot Malin. The event raises funds for San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Opera Guild’s education programs.
Heidi Snow Cinader, founder and director of the Aircraft Casualty Emotional Support Services (ACCESS), and cochair, Rachel Courtney-Reilly hosted the Sixth Annual ACCESS Hearts, Clubs and Aces golf tournament at Novato’s StoneTree Golf Club. The group raised over $180,000, which will support the training of additional volunteer grief mentors who provide bereavement care to the families who have been affected by 9/11 and other air-disaster-related tragedies.
Locals, including Alice Radio’s Sarah Clarke, showed up for a good cause, donating items to the Goodwill and enhancing their wardrobe with consultations with celebrity stylist Bobbie Thomas at the Levi’s Store to celebrate the brand’s new Curve ID jeans. Guests were also treated to a concert by actress Zooey Deschanel and her band She & Him.
