SchoolsRule-Marin Raises $400k+ for Marin Public School System

With 210 community members coming together on September 20 to raise funds and awareness for the public school system, SchoolsRule-Marin On the Road to Equity: Driving Change marked yet another successful annual event for the organization.

The evening was hosted at the Private Exclusive Car Collection in San Rafael, and was kicked off with a cocktail hour and Hors d’Oeuvres, red carpet photos and classic car viewing. Guests mingled among each other, which allowed for the possibility to chat with a few of the particularly notable attendees including: Marin County Superintendent John Carroll and Superintendent Emeritus Mary Jane Burke; Marin County Supervisor Brian Colbert and other local school board leaders; Ron & Nancy Felder of Redwood Credit Union, presenting sponsor; and philanthropic partners Annette & Paul Venables and Lisa & Al Brayton.

The remaining program followed with a gourmet sit-down dinner catered by Stacy Scott Catering, inspiring remarks and fundraising opportunities. Two students — one from Novato High School and one from San Rafael High School — shared stories about how keeping public schools funded also supports college and career readiness, plus access to music and arts programs. A video presentation from Dedication to Special Education was shown, too.

The event’s Fund-a-Need moment and live auction featuring items including a Mexican villa, Russian River getaway and private wine experiences ultimately contributed to the over $400,000 raised.

The funds will support SchoolsRule Marin’s mission to provide all children in Marin’s public school system with equitable access to educational opportunities.
