A private Tiburon residence set the stage for Tulum: We Are One, a fundraiser on May 31 hosted by the Tolson family to benefit Belvedere-Hawthorne Nursery Schools — the oldest nursery school in southern Marin, known for its collaborative, community-first approach to early learning.
Belvedere-Hawthorne Nursery Schools board member president Rosalie Tolson, along with Andrea Moorer, spearheaded the evening through their e-commerce business Party Curations, weaving in their signature design flair with thoughtful and surprising touches. Guests arrived to the lively sounds of Trio Estrellas De Oro and an entryway adorned with oversized palms and 500 stems of pampas grass. Inside, bold visual moments abounded, from a three-foot Mayan-inspired ice sculpture by Chisel-It Ice to a five-foot pampas grass chandelier.
The celebration featured coastal Mexican fare from Liberation Foods, cocktails from On the Rocks Bartending, and entertainment on every level of the home—including live music by The Freshmakers, sets by DJ Ragbar and DJ Yuka Yu, and a surprise performance by Aztec dance group Calpulli Tonalehqueh. Playful touches such as a “Ring for Margaritas” window mingled with serene offerings, like a Five Mountains Tea lounge. Fun Frame Photo and AM Party Rentals added interactive charm.
Funds raised support the school’s unique parent-led model, where families manage operations alongside directors and early childhood educators. Admission is open to all Marin families, with financial aid available.
“What’s especially powerful about this school is its legacy,” said Tolson. “Many alumni parents once attended themselves and now send their own children. That kind of generational loyalty speaks volumes about the magic of this place.”
