Our own Cannes on the Bay kicks off TODAY 🎞️ Since Our own Cannes on the Bay kicks off TODAY 🎞️ Since MVFF started, 12 of its films have gone on to win Best Picture at the Oscars — from Slumdog Millionaire and 12 Years a Slave to Parasite and Anora — plus 11 Best Director, 10 Best Actress, and 13 Best Actor wins for festival alumni. Founded in 1977 because there wasn't a place in Marin for independent film, it's grown into an 11-day celebration that still feels unmistakably local.

It's also more than a glitzy premiere circuit — MVFF Education has screened films free for Marin's K-12 students for 30+ years, and the Mind the Gap initiative has awarded $10,000 grants to emerging female directors, with past honorees like Rose Byrne and Laura Dern.

This year's lineup includes Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich for Opening Night's Wild Horse Nine, Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti closing it out in The Debut, plus Olivia Colman, Andrew Scott, Léa Seydoux, and dozens more.

Swipe through for the story behind the festival 👉 full schedule and everything you need to know at the link in bio.
