Turning Houses into Homes: Make It Home Throws Annual Salvage & Style Fundraiser

On September 26, 210 guests at The Club at Peacock Gap gathered to fundraise for local nonprofit Make It Home at its annual Salvage & Style gala. The event was wildly successful, raising over $450,000 by the night’s end.

The evening featured a sit-down dinner provided by Sage Catering, which was complemented by an open bar and anonymously donated wine from a collector. The tablescapes were curated by local Bay Area interior designers using furniture, dinnerware, fabric and décor from the Make It Home warehouse.

While enjoying their meals, guests heard from founder and CEO of Make It Home Bay Area Carolyn Flannery, who spoke about the organization’s work to furnish homes for people leaving homelessness, domestic violence and foster care.

“Events like this remind us just how powerful it is when a community comes together to turn houses into homes,” Flannery said.

Fundraising activities were varied, including a live auction, a silent auction, a raffle and a Fund-a-Need paddle raise. The designer tablescapes at the event were included in the silent auction, and California Home+Design Editor-in-Chief Lindsey Shook chose one to be named Editor’s Choice — the winner will get a full-page ad in the California Home+Design’s Winter Edition.
