On October 7, St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin hosted its annual gala, Pennies from Heaven, at the exquisite Meadow Club. The elegant, sold-out event was attended by 215 benefactors and raised more than $600,000 for St. Vincent de Paul’s programs and services feeding the hungry and housing the homeless in Marin County.

Gala guests were treated to wine and spirits tastings plus a seafood and caviar bar, which was then followed by dinner paired with wines donated by Lynmar Estate. Dancing plus a cigar and cognac lounge rounded out the celebratory evening.

St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County—affectionately referred to as ‘Vinnies’—was first founded in 1946 and has remained an independent, nonprofit organization solely responsible for its own fundraising and program operations.

Vinnies’ programs and services support over 10,000 people annually. Those services include a homeless outreach team which helps chronically homeless individuals with multiple health issues, a free dining room open 365 days a year serving breakfast and lunch, rehousing assistance for the unhoused and a crisis assistance program designed to prevent people from evictions.
